It's the sequel no-one asked for, but perhaps the biggest revelation of the Xbox press conference at GamesCom was the appearance of Halo Wars 2.
2009's Halo Wars was well received on the Xbox 360 but real time strategy games have just never felt at home on a console so will there was a childlike joy to charging into the enemy base with a fleet of Warthogs, I don't think many people were holding out for the sequel.
That was before the announcement that the Halo Wars 2 sequel was coming from Creative Assembly, developers of the Total War series.
They've had recent success adapting a popular franchise with Alien: Isolation and are currently hard at work on Warhammer: Total War. We should see more soon, but for now
here's a teaser trailer.
There's not much on show in the trailer, just some marines and spartans getting jumped in the darkness by tall, dark and snarly on the right there, but thankfully there's no flood. If there continues to be no flood, that'd be just great.
Halo Wars 2 is planned for a Fall 2016 release.
