Duke Nukem Forever may, especially now that it appears to have been
effectively cancelled, a joke to most gamers but recent remarks have hinted that the game may still see an eventual release.
The comments came from Jon St. John, the voice actor behind the legendary video game character, who suggested that work may still be under way with the game.
"
Let me go ahead and tell you right now that I'm not allowed to talk about Duke Nukem Forever," St. John said when asked about it during a panel at the Music and Games Festival, according to
PixelEnemy.
The crowd promptly erupted in groans, boos and hisses - but St. John was quick to calm them down and prevent a riot by suggesting that it was because he was bound by an ongoing confidentiality agreement.
"
No, no, don't be disappointed, read between the lines… why am I not allowed to talk about it?" He said.
Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in 1997, meaning that it's been in development on some level for almost 15 years now. Wired recently put up an incredibly good article that explores the problems behind the project, titled '
How Success Killed Duke Nukem'.
