Gearbox Software has announced that it will launch an anniversary edition of classic macho shoot-'em-up Duke Nukem 3D this October, to include an entirely new chapter created by some of the original designers.
Apparently not put off by the
abject failure of its last attempt at the franchise, Gearbox Software has confirmed it is finishing up development on Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour for release this October. In addition to the original game, playable in classic or updated 'True3D Rendering' graphics modes, the game will include an eight-level additional chapter not present in the title's original release.
This chapter, though, looks set to be more than just a hastily cobbled together expansion to tempt fans who still own the original game. Designers Allen Blum III and Richard Gray, known to his fans as Levelord, have been working with Gearbox to ensure the chapter stays true to their vision for the original game, while Lee Jackson is providing the music once again. Even Jon St. John is involved, having recorded new lines for the egotistic blond lead - though his involvement in Duke Nukem Forever wasn't enough to save the oft-delayed title.
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour is set to launch on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 11th. A trailer for the game is reproduced below.
