Valve's entry to the MOBA race, DOTA 2, has broken the 1 million concurrent players milestone.
According to Valve, DOTA 2 is the first game available on Steam to reach this number of players playing at the same time.
Steam's stats page shows that DOTA 2 hit this number over the weekend, despite there being no particular high profile event to drive additional interest in the title.
Fellow eSports favourite Counter-strike: Global Offensive clocked in at a distant second over the weekend with 420,000 concurrent players.
DOTA 2 has previously attracted more concurrent viewers than this for its high level tournaments. The International 2014 drew 2 million viewers at its peak.
The biggest rival to DOTA 2, Riot Games' hugely popular League of Legends, is still on top, however, regularly pulling in between five and seven million concurrent players.
DOTA 2 emerged from a two-year beta back in 2013 and has established itself as an eSports mainstay, helped along by Valve's financial and hefty marketing support for official tournaments.
For The International 2014, Valve put forward an initial $1m of prize money forward and then raised the additional $9.7m through the sale of digital tickets, effectively crowd sourcing the prize pool.
