Writer of Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War Sheldon Pacotti has launched a Kickstarter campaign to make an interactive comic-style spy thriller game.
Sienna Storm’s story centers on a private investigator framed for a terrorist attack he didn’t commit as he tries to clear his name and unravel secrets from his past. The Kickstarter pitch states that the game will focus on intelligence gathering, persuasion and deduction.
Sienna Storm’s main mechanics will revolve around a collectible card game mechanic at its core that defines how you take actions in the game’s world. This mechanic will involve deck building and collecting new cards over the course of the game.
The artwork used on the Kickstarter page and in the pitch video is highlighted as actual in-game art as opposed to just concept art.
The campaign is seeking the rather specific amount of $179,000 and has currently raised just over $7,000 with 28 days left to go. Backers wanting to secure a copy of the game need to pledge at least $25. The game is being developed purely for the PC at present.
Joining Pacotti on the development team is Obsidian and Bioware veteran Tony Evans and RPG and tabletop game specialist Darrell Hardy who has previously worked on Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars living card game. Stretch goals for the project include bringing Chris Avellone, best known for his involvement in Black Isle and Obsidian’s Fallout titles, on board with the project as well.
Other stretch goals include a Mac version being developed at $260,000 and a full English voiceover unlocked at $370,000.
