A new expansion for World of Warcraft has been revealed by Blizzard Entertainment.
Announced during BlizzCon 2013, Warlords of Draenor will be the fifth expansion to World of Warcraft and will take players back in time to a pivotal moment in Warcraft's history.
The expansion is set on the world of Draenor, the home of the orcs before they invaded Azeroth, and will include seven new areas to explore. Although the world also featured in the game's first expansion, Burning Crusade, in the form of Outland, each of these areas is being designed from the ground up and Blizzard says it is not reusing areas to save time.
The new expansion will raise the MMO's level cap to 100 and existing players will be able to instantly upgrade a single character to level 90. Blizzard has put this forward as a common complaint from players who have taken a break from the game is that it takes far too long to catch up.
'World of Warcraft is constantly evolving and these days players engage with the game in a wider variety of ways than ever,' said a Blizzard spokesperson. 'One of our primary goals with Warlords of Draenor is to empower WoW players to quickly and easily be able to participate in the content they're most interested in and giving everyone a level-90 character upgrade right out of the gate helps make that possible.'
Warlords of Draenor will also include a feature that sounds close to the long awaited player housing in the form of a 'Build Your Garrison' mode. Players can build their own stronghold on Draenor and gather NPC followers to collect resources and to undertake missions for you.
The expansion does not yet have a release date but it has entered its beta phase already.
