Bohemia Interactive has just announced the first DLC for its
Arma II games, adding the eagerly-awaited British Army to this hardcore milsim. Infantry players can look forward to shooting various models of the L85/L86 rifle family, plus various localised weapons, such as the L110A1 machine gun, aka the SAW if you're Belgian or M249 if you're American.
Vehicle crews should be able to sink their teeth into the Warrior MICV and Jackal 2 - which went head to head with Jeremy Clarkson in the last series of
Top Gear.
Pilots should also be able to take on the challenge of the Wildcat and Merlin helicopters plus localised verisons of the Apache helicopter gunship and Chinook transport.
The British Army DLC will also add several new features to the
Arma II engine, including an engineer class that can perform field repairs on vehicles and equipment. Bohemia Interactive has also promised an improved command engine for mortar and artillery units, something that at the moment is only possible via 3rd-party scripts.
Arma II: British Armed Forces is scheuled for release in August 2010, and will retail for £7.99, €8.99 or $9.99 USD depending on where you live and is compatible with both
Arma II and
Arma II: Operation Arrowhead.
