Remember that new content that we were promised for
Team Fortress 2? No? Kinda forgot about it, eh? Well, time to remind yourself then because according to a report from Shacknews new content is planned for the PC version of the game in a huge update to be added mid-April.
There's a whole load of new stuff speculated to be in the update according to
Shacknews, both for in-game and advertising purposes.
First on the list is a brand new game mode called Payload, which task the Blue team with pushing a cart of explosives into the Red base. The cart is always moving, but the more players near it the faster it'll scoot along and the role of the Red team is to obviously stop their base from being blown to smithereens. This'll also be the first game mode to incorporate the cinematic physics seen in
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (Liverpool nil).
Going hand in hand with the new mode will be a new map, called Goldrush.
Next up is the controversial unlockable weapons update, which has been planned for debuting with the Medic class. The planned Overhealer gun was planned to double the health capacity of targets permanently, but Valve has had trouble balancing the weapon. Instead, the developer is now toying with a weapon that bestows upon targets the ability to have ten seconds of continuous critical hits.
Unlockable weapons are something Valve plans to spread to all classes eventually, with players gaining access by bagging certain achievements for each class.
Oh, and Valve is still hard at work on the character videos too. If you were a fan of the old 'Meet the Heavy' and 'Meet the Soldier' promotional videos then you'll be pleased to know that a 'Meet the Scout' video is planned for April too.
Think the new weapons will work at all, or is it inevitable that Valve will mess up at some point? Let us know your thoughts in
the forums.
