With Nintendo recently announcing the name of their
upcoming gaming platform, the Japanese company has topped that off with the news that its current console, the Gamecube, will receive a price drop.
The Gamecube, which currently retails at $99 in the US - the cheapest 'full' console on the market - will have its prices slashed at some point in the month of May. This move seems to be an attempt to compensate for the Gamecube’s lack of upcoming titles, with only
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess offering excitement for Gamecube fans (currently due out 1st July).
Early indications on the internet point to a price drop as low as $79.99, some are even speculating that the final price will be around $59, which could mean we will see the console in Britain ship for under £50. Not a bad price considering how many top class games (
Resident Evil 4, Donkey Konga)are now available at budget prices.
Will you be investing in a low priced Gamecube? Or does everybody that was going to buy a Gamecube own one already?
