A team of ex-Bioshock developers has launched a Kickstarter for The Flame in the Flood, a survival sim set in a post-apocalyptic flooded world.
The team is composed of former Irrational Games developers including the art director of Bioshock and several other industry veterans. Additionally, the music is being created by country singer Chuck Ragan who is writing a full length album to accompany the release of the game.
The Flame in the Flood will task players with hunting for food and supplies whilst staying away from hostile wildlife, looking for shelter and keeping your raft in one place. On the Kickstarter page, the developers describe the game as ‘Toobin’ meets Oregon Trail’.
The game world will be procedurally generated and the ticking clock facing the players is the oncoming rains that mean game over if the player does not stay ahead of them.
Anyone backing the project for $15 or more will get a digital copy of the game which is being developed for PC and Mac. Additional rewards for higher tiers include a physical art book and the opportunity to help design a character. The team has opted not to list any stretch goals.
The Flame in the Flood needs $150,000 in funds and has 29 days left to go. The project has already attracted more than 1,100 backers and raised nearly a third of its target.
