Eidos Montreal has announced Deus Ex: Universe which it describes as 'an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games'.
The project will begin with a new Deus Ex title for PC and next-generation consoles which is being created by most of the team that worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
'It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise,' said Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi. 'For now, I hope you are excited about the future of this game that we love so much.
Further pieces of Deus Ex: Universe will involve other PC and console games as well as products in other forms of media including books, graphic novels and mobile titles all set in the distopian world.
At the same time, Eidos Montreal also announced that the director's cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released on October 22. This version of the 2011 title will include features built in to take advantage of SmartGlass, Wii U GamePad or PS Vita second screens.
