Darksiders 2 will be coming to the Playstation 4 according to the series’ new owner, Nordic Games.
A listing for the remastered edition on the Playstation 4 briefly appeared on Amazon and was picked up on by
GameSpot. Nordic Games later confirmed that this listing was accurate, although declined to comment on the release date.
Nordic games also did not confirm if it was coming to the Xbox One, although it seems likely. The original version was launched on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC and saw a Wii U version added when Nintendo’s latest console was released.
The Darksiders series was picked up by Nordic Games with the dissolution of THQ in 2013. The studio acquired Darksiders along with Red Faction and the MX franchise for $4.9m.
Nordic Games does appear to be interested in continuing the Darksiders series beyond remastered editions and last year the former creative director of the franchise went on the record as saying that Darksiders
‘is not dead’.
Several of the original Darksiders developers from the now-defunct Vigil ended up at Crytek after the studio failed to find a buyer during THQ's bankruptcy proceedings. The studio saw limited interest as, at the time, it had just released Darksiders 2 and was far away from any subsequent releases.
