Independent developer Brain Candy has today announced Fray, a new multiplayer strategy game for PC and Mac, coming sometime this year.
While there are no screenshots to look at yet, Brain Candy describes Fray as '
a turn-based, real-time strategy game'.
Story-wise, Fray is a gritty sci-fi game set in 2098, where mega-corpotations compete for control of Earth's collapsing society and diminishing resources.
'
In a world where most human interaction is confined to cyberspace, mankind has created a variety of virtual reality modules in which to escape the harsh realities of life and experience the full range of human emotions once known by generations past,' says the announcement.
'
Some modules are created for human enjoyment while others have been created to serve more devious purposes. One of the most pivotal virtual environments is the combat module, Fray.'
Players will enter into Fray with a squad of four characters, each with different abilities and specialities. Players then queue up their plans in a turn-based structure, before all plans are executed at once in real-time - a system also being used by Bit-Gamer favourite,
Frozen Synapse.
