Bethesda: Rage demo is unlikely

Rage, the upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter from Doom developer id Software, is probably not going to get a playable demo according to reports from parent publisher Bethesda Softworks.

Speaking to VG247, Bethesda's Pete Hines said that the chances of Rage getting a playable demo, on any platform, were 'unlikely'.

'It’s something we look at for every game and we do it where possible and where appropriate,' said Hines, 'But to be perfectly honest, from a technical standpoint, it isn’t always possible.'

'I don’t see a demo for RAGE on the cards. I guess it’s not a zero percent chance, but it’s somewhere down on that end of the spectrum.'

Rage is id Software's first retail game in seven years and drops players into a vast post-apocalyptic desert to fend for themselves. There's an iPhone game already available, but we haven't been that impressed with either it or the full version from what we've seen so far.

Rage is due out later this year for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It'll use id's latest engine, id Tech 5, and you can let us know your thoughts about that in the forums.
