Apple today confirmed that Steve Jobs has returned to work after taking medical leave in January, with his first job for the Mac-maker being to celebrate
the first million iPhone 3GS' being sold in a public statement.
"
Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning... With over 50,000 applications available from Apple's revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever," Jobs said in a short statement about the iPhone 3GS.
Apple has repeatedly said that Jobs was expected to return to work at the end of June, with the above statement apparently marking the start of his gradual return to full duty according to
The Telegraph.
While the official reason for Jobs' medical leave was stated as a simple hormone imbalance according to Apple it's been long-rumoured that there are more pressing health concerns which haven't been fully disclosed due to Jobs' private nature. While the Wall Street Journal claimed that Jobs had undergone a liver transplant two months ago nobody close to Jobs has been willing to go on the record about the topic.
While Tim Cook took over at acting CEO of Apple in Jobs' absence, Steve Jobs has been kept up to date on the company and has been involved in all major strategic decisions.
