Valve has released a new update for Steam for Mac as part of its promise to expand the features of the Steamplay service every Wednesday. The latest update for Steam includes not only a new batch of games compatible with Steam for Mac, but also cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Mac gamers.

Cross-platform multiplayer is only available for a few titles at the moment, but Valve will be increasing compatibility in the future.

The biggest title currently supporting cross-platform multiplayer is office favourite Killing Floor, which is also on sale at the moment with 33 percent off the regular price. Other cross-platform games include Altitude and Madballs in Babo: Invasion.

"We were thrilled when we learned that Steam was coming to the Mac platform and started working on a native Mac version of Killing Floor immediately," said John Gibson, President of Tripwire Interactive, creators of Killing Floor.

"Steam's advanced multiplayer support on both the PC and Mac has enabled us to bring Killing Floor to a whole new audience on the Mac and introduce them to the existing PC player community."

Today's update has also bought with it a bunch of new titles to Steam for Mac, the full list of which is below.
