Doom is one of the most played games of all time, and certainly one of the games with the biggest name. The source code to the game is available free, and it's cool to rip out bits and play around with it.
Which is
exactly what this chap has done. Pitched as an interactive Doom adventure, it's an in-browser flash game that uses the Doom setting for an adventure game of the old school variety.
You walk around, point and click on objectives to bring up text descriptions, use commands to go forward and look around, as well as bash buttons in zombie-blasting mini-games.
The visual style integrates Doom textures and graphics with flash animation, with cut-scenes showing some of the nitty-gritty action. The first level will be instantly familiar to anyone who's ever played Doom, and this makes for an easy learning curve.
There is some serious fun to be had here. Go and have a play, then let us know your thoughts
over in the forums.
Don't forget that, if you like your Doom more mobile, there's a
phone RPG available, made by Carmack.
