Conveniently located in San Francisco, the 'Sex in Videogames' conference started its second day yesterday in a bid to promote the adult video game industry.
The adult games industry is
"underfunded and underexperienced", according to delegates, but there were some game developers trying to make some deals with adult publishers in the hopes of gaining some inroad into a generally untapped market.
Many groups of people involved the adult industry were invited to the conference, although politicians (a sector well known for knocking the games industry to win votes) were not. There are some good details over at
Cnet.
The aim of the conference is to highlight this new area of the videogame industry to increase growth both in the adult market and in the general videogame market. Conference delegates were told that one of the best ways forward for a collaboration between the game and adult industries was through the creation of MMOs, which are hot property in gaming and open up the most potential for interaction with an adult dimension.
So, could we be seeing more sex in game in the coming years? Is this really a good direction for gaming to be going in - doesn't the industry have enough bad press already?
