Some new details about Microsoft's plan to take over the gaming world today.

Live Anywhere was first announced at E3, and it is a service that extends the features of Xbox Live to the PC and to mobile phones. That means achievements, downloadable games, friends lists and global invites.

First, there's some great slides that show the mobile functionality in action over at TeamXbox. There's pictures which show using a mobile to download games, queue up Xbox 360 downloads remotely and finding your friends online.

Halo 2 for the PC will also have Live Anywhere functionality - sort of. In a Bungie.org update, the devs confirm that although it won't be possible to play multiplayer between Xbox and PC, there will be the Live Anywhere functions in terms of friends lists, invites etc.

"Once Live Anywhere launches on cell phones," said Jo Clowes from Bungie, "You will be able to access your friends list and see their achievements in Halo 2 Vista."
