Dabs, one of the UK's leading retailers of computer components, has been bought up by BT (nee British Telecom).

The move ends months of speculation about the future of the company. Previously, both Tescos and Newegg have been associated with a move for the retailer.

The move should mean very little for Dabs' customers in the short term, with the company informing us this morning that business would carry on absolutely as usual.

In the long term, expect to see some promotion of BT on the Dabs site, possibly through phone line deals and the like.

Dabs currently does about £180m of business each year, and BT is hoping that it can strengthen its online presence by having Dabs.

We shall have to wait and see how this all pans out in the long run. However, we'd be interested to know your experiences with Dabs over in the News Forum.
