William Gates has been espousing the awesomeness of video clips on the internet to a journalist.
Gates explained to the Wall Street Journal that he loves to check out the latest stuff posted on video upload site YouTube.
From the interview:
WSJ: You watch physics lectures and Harlem Globetrotters [on YouTube]?
Gates: This social-networking thing takes you to crazy places.
WSJ: But those were stolen, correct?
Gates: Stolen's a strong word. It's copyrighted content that the owner wasn't paid for. So yes.
Maybe the next 'Don't pirate Windows' campaign could run with the tagline, Stolen is a strong word... ?
Interestingly, this shows that on some level, the people at the top of the technology chain who are creating all this DRM rubbish do 'get' what content and sharing is about. Why they make every attempt to screw it up is beyond us.
