If you are a regular
bit-tech reader, you will no doubt have seen some of my work before. My speciality is engraving, so that normally features in my projects. If you are new to the concept of engraving as a modding technique, the best place to start is my first article:
Engraving - A Modder's "How To".
Once you have mastered the basics of engraving, you can move on to more detailed patterns like those on my
Fatal1ty case. You can even experiment with something new: coloured engraving. My good friend Wolverine proved that something as simple as line-art engraving can make a dramatic statement with his
Star Wars Lian-Li.
Having seen what Wolverine was able to achieve, I wanted to go with a themed design for my next project. There have been several famous case mods based on the Alien series of films - one of the best examples was made by
The Best Case Scenario. The have also possibly been some Predator case mods, but I decided to make an Alien vs Predator system. Maybe it has been done before, but this will be my unique take on the AvP theme.
Before I continue, I need to thank my sponsor,
Colorcase.se. Without their kind support, I would not be able to afford to mod as many projects as I do. They provided the case for this project, so if you live in Sweden, give them a try the next time you need some hardware.
OK, let's take a look and my blank canvas: a black
Aspire X-plorer midi tower.
And in the best traditions of a
bit-tech worklog, here is a sneak peek at the end result:
Let's go back to where it all began...
